Temperature-Compensated Crystal Oscillators use sampling techniques to correct a crystal oscillator circuit’s temperature deficiencies, package, and environment. Typically, the correction techniques involve the physical and electrical characterization of the crystal blank’s motional inductance and terminal capacitance. The knowledge of this is used to create a correction polynomial, or algorithm, which in turn is implemented in circuit blocks and maintains better stabilities than standard oscillators.
